The United States of America is the only nation that has not signed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Most Americans would be shocked that third world type abuses against children are widespread and endemic within the domestic boundaries of our own nation. The US uses its considerable influence to condemn human rights atrocities against women and children in other countries, while willfully allowing these same crimes to occur under it’s nose.

The National Association to Protect Children thanks ECPATUSA for the opportunity to formally respond to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child Concerning the Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography. Our full response can be found here.

The United States should now fully fund and support the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces and efforts by The Department of Homeland Security and Project VIC to disrupt global networks that engage in trafficking of children and crime scene images of torture and abuse. Congress should fund national capacity for technology infrastructure to rescue the over 10,000 unidentified children in these crime scene recordings.

Child Rescue is, for the first time in history, within our reach.
